TL;DR
  • Talent Scarcity in Key Areas: Your most critical challenge is securing and retaining talent like Generative AI specialists, Data Architects, Cloud Engineers, and Product Engineering talent. The market for these skills is highly competitive.
  • The Focus is on Nurturing: GCC leaders are emphasizing talent growth and retention through building an internal culture of continuous learning and opportunity. If your business is a GCC, you must invest heavily in upskilling and a strong employee value proposition to retain your core team.
  • Opportunity for Service Providers: If your business provides specialized tech talent or training, the boom in GCC growth and their talent gap represents a massive opportunity for partnership and scaling.

Imagine a summit where global industry leaders gather to discuss the future of technology, talent, and transformation. That’s exactly what happened at the GCC Next Summit 2024 in Chennai held on Wednesday, November, 27th 2024, and it was the place to be for any business transformation, SaaS Industry, and Tech innovation leaders. First and foremost, there is a huge need for talent, including developers, data architects, cloud engineers, and even generative AI. For GCCs, a major priority is developing skilled and equipped talent to handle their growing consumer base and tech requirements.

No matter the industry, companies are growing in need of talent growth, nurturing, and retention. Speakers like Hema Mani from Lennox India and Arunkumar from SCP Global Engineering discussed how talent management needs to address this challenge and constantly embrace opportunities to create and retain talent.

With over 300 GCC leaders in attendance, including leaders from the Tamil Nadu government, ideas and knowledge on the challenges and growth GCCs have experienced in the past years were shared.

There were conversations about products built in India, Generative AI, and even how to build a culture that drives innovation. What was interesting to look at was the challenges GCCs face and the overall growth that has happened across the globe, especially in India.

Attendees explored innovative strategies and technologies that are driving transformation within GCCs, highlighting the importance of staying ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Speakers like Prabhu Palanisamy from Chevron, Minu Agarwal from Standard Chartered Bank, and Kaushik Dey from Ericsson Research among others spoke about product innovation and creating a culture that nurtures that were just some of the topics covered.

Speakers like Rajesh Srinivasan from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP, Arvind Srinivasan from THRYVE Digital, and several others - went into government incentives and tax reforms to create a more nurturing environment for GCCs and the companies that support them.

    Thought Leadership and Opportunities

With GCCs, the thought frame is always macro, and there were discussions on topics like knowledge arbitrage where speakers like Eva James, VP at Renault Nissan Technology, and Naved Narayan, Mobility VP at Bosch Global Software Technologies dove into how different expertise and tech adoption can be transferred to different domains, for a better competitive advantage.

At the end of the event, however, there was evident collaboration among professionals, service providers, and ecosystem partners. What we noticed on the whole, however, was the immense growth and the immediate demand for industry talent and companies that want to develop and nurture this.
